ELIGIBILITY: This promotion is open to any individual 17 years or older, who is or will be attending a regionally or nationally accredited college, university, or vocational school in an academic term within 1 year of notification date. Winner must be at least 18 years of age at the time of enrollment at a qualified institution. If a scholarship winner does not enroll or is not enrolled in a qualifying educational institution within 1 year of notification date, the award will be forfeited and not re-awarded. Applicants must be permanent residents the United States as of December 31st, 2007. Void where prohibited by law. This promotion is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. For Micro Essay Scholarship Sweepstakes: This sweepstakes program is available to eligible individuals pursuing any post secondary educational degree or certification. To apply, go to http://MicroEssayScholarships.com and complete the initial form on website, including a valid email address and write your essay. Applications including the essay will be accepted by electronic means through the online form on the landing page of the websites above. You may also enter by handwriting your essay and sending it along with your name and complete address on an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper and mailing in a #10 envelope to: Vantage Media, LLC, Micro Essay Scholarship Sweepstakes Entry, 2101 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 2000 El Segundo, CA 90245. No photocopied or mechanically reproduced entries will be accepted. Limit one (1) entry per person. All entries and essays become property of Sponsor and will not be returned or acknowledged. Eligible essays must comply with essay entry criteria as follows:
A. Essay must include answers to the three questions listed below.

  1. What would you use the scholarship award for specifically (tuition, books, living expenses, etc)?
  2. Which area of study (business, nursing, engineering, etc) would you apply the scholarship award towards and why did you select this area of study?
  3. How will you use your education to benefit our society?

B. The essay may not exceed a maximum total length (including answers to all three questions) of 320 characters.
Any essay that does not comply with the above criteria will not be eligible for the scholarship.

Sponsor is not responsible for errors, omissions, lost, late, interruptions, deletions, delays in operations or transmission, invalid, incomplete, technically corrupted or misdirected entries. All of these types of entries will be disqualified. Sponsor is not responsible for any claims, liabilities or damages in conjunction with the prize of the contest. Sponsor is not responsible for any claims liabilities or damages in conjunction with the process of meeting the contest rules. Contest rules and guidelines are subject to update and modification at anytime and for any reason.

Entry time frame is from January 1, 2008 through September 25, 2009 Final submission deadline for the sweepstakes is 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on September 25, 2009. Use of data will be in compliance with our general privacy policy, which may be reviewed by clicking on 'Privacy Statement' at the bottom of the entry page. ENTRY CONSTITUTES AGREEMENT TO BE BOUND BY THE OFFICIAL RULES: By entering into these Sweepstakes, each entrant fully and conditionally agrees to and accepts these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor and/or the Administrator, which are final and binding in all matters related to these Sweepstakes. PRIZES - Prizes Winner selection will be as described below for the respective scholarships offered by Sponsor.

For General Scholarship Sweepstakes: One (1) one-time scholarship grant of $3,000 will be awarded each quarter beginning Q4 2008 and continuing through Q3 2009. One (1) winner will be selected by a random drawing of all eligible entrants on a quarterly basis. The scholarship monies will be paid directly to the winner upon verification that the winner has applied, been accepted and enrolled at an accredited college, university or technical school. ODDS OF WINNING DEPEND ON THE NUMBER OF ELIGIBLE GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP SWEEPSTAKE ENTRIES RECEIVED. ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL TAXES, AND ANY OTHER COSTS AND EXPENSES, ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECEIPT OR USE OF THE PRIZE ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER. Prize is not transferable. Prize is awarded WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, express or implied, without limitation. Winners must accept Sponsor's Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release to receive the scholarship grant. If a winner chooses not to accept his or her prize, an alternate winner may be chosen.

For Nursing Scholarship Sweepstakes: One (1) one-time scholarship grant of $4,000 will be awarded on or around September 30, 2009. One (1) winner will be selected by a random drawing of all eligible entrants. The scholarship monies will be paid directly to the winner upon verification that the winner has applied, been accepted and enrolled in an accredited college, university or technical school to pursue a nursing degree. ODDS OF WINNING DEPEND ON THE NUMBER OF ELIGIBLE RANDOM DRAWING SCHOLARSHIP SWEEPSTAKE ENTRIES RECEIVED. ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL TAXES, AND ANY OTHER COSTS AND EXPENSES, ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECEIPT OR USE OF THE PRIZE ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER. Prize is not transferable. Prize is awarded WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, express or implied, without limitation. Winners must accept Sponsor's Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release to receive the scholarship grant. For Business School Scholarship Sweepstakes: One (1) one-time scholarship grant of $4,000 will be awarded on or around September 30, 2009. One (1) winner will be selected by a random drawing of all eligible entrants. The scholarship monies will be paid directly to the winner upon verification that the winner has applied, been accepted and enrolled in a masters of business program at an accredited college or university. ODDS OF WINNING DEPEND ON THE NUMBER OF ELIGIBLE RANDOM DRAWING SCHOLARSHIP SWEEPSTAKE ENTRIES RECEIVED. ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL TAXES, AND ANY OTHER COSTS AND EXPENSES, ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECEIPT OR USE OF THE PRIZE ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER. Prize is not transferable. Prize is awarded WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, express or implied, without limitation. Winners must accept Sponsor's Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release to receive the scholarship grant. For Micro Essay Scholarship Sweepstakes: One (1) one-time scholarship grant of $1,000 will be awarded each quarter. One (1) winner will be selected by a random drawing of all eligible entrants on a quarterly basis and awarded in the amount of $1,000, totaling four (4) winners and $4,000 annually. The scholarship monies will be paid directly to the winner upon verification that the winner has applied, been accepted and enrolled at an accredited college, university or technical school. ODDS OF WINNING DEPEND ON THE NUMBER OF ELIGIBLE ESSAY SCHOLARSHIP SWEEPSTAKE ENTRIES RECEIVED. ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL TAXES, AND ANY OTHER COSTS AND EXPENSES, ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECEIPT OR USE OF THE PRIZE ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER. Prize is not transferable. Prize is awarded WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, express or implied, without limitation. Winners must accept Sponsor's form of release and give Sponsor the right to use winner's information and photograph. If a winner chooses not to accept his or her prize, an alternate winner may be chosen.

WINNER SELECTION - Winner selection will be as described below for each of the respective scholarships sweepstakes offered by Sponsor.

For General Scholarship Sweepstakes: One winner will be selected in a random drawing on or around each of December 30, 2008, March 30, 2009, June 30, 2009 and Sept 30, 2009 from all eligible entries received on or before the earlier of the quarterly drawing date or 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on September 25, 2009. All eligible entries for each drawing will be placed in a common container and one entry will be drawn by a representative of the Sponsor. Winner will be notified by e-mail, telephone, overnight carrier or regular mail within approximately two (2) business days of the drawing.

For Nursing Scholarship Sweepstakes: One winner will be selected in a random drawing on or around September 30, 2009 from all eligible entries received on or before 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on September 25, 2009. All eligible entries for the drawing will be placed in a common container and one entry will be drawn by a representative of the Sponsor. Winner will be notified by e-mail, telephone, overnight carrier or regular mail within approximately two (2) business days of the drawing.

For Business School Scholarship Sweepstakes: One winner will be selected in a random drawing on or around September 30, 2009 from all eligible entries received on or before 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on September 25, 2009. All eligible entries for the drawing will be placed in a common container and one entry will be drawn by a representative of the Sponsor. Winner will be notified by e-mail, telephone, overnight carrier or regular mail within approximately two (2) business days of the drawing.

For Micro Essay Scholarship Sweepstakes: One winner will be selected each calendar quarter from among all eligible entries received based on a judging of the essays. The essays will be judged and scored by a representative of Sponsor using the method below.
Essay Judging & Scoring:

  • All essays will be eligible to receive up to 25 total points
  • Points will be awarded as follows:
    • Were the essay evaluation questions answered completely? (3 points per each answered question) - total of 9 points
    • Was the individual able to effectively and concisely describe his/her answers well using the limit of 320 characters - total of 5 points
    • How unique was were the answers to essay question Nos. 2 and 3 - total of 11 points

All eligible entries received on or before the earlier of the quarterly drawing date or 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on December 31, 2008 will be placed in a common container and one entry will be drawn by a representative of the Sponsor. Winner will be notified by e-mail, telephone, overnight carrier or regular mail within approximately two (2) business days of the judging and scoring process.

GENERAL: Sponsor, may use applicants' names, likenesses, and other information for promotional purposes associated with its scholarship programs. The potential winners of a cash prize will be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, a Liability Release, and, where legal, a Publicity Release, within ten (10) days of first attempted notification. In the event of noncompliance, the potential winners may be disqualified and alternate winners may be selected, at Sponsor's sole discretion.

In the event of a dispute, entries will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational, institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.

DISTRIBUTION OF SWEEPSTAKES AWARD: Sweepstakes monies will be awarded as follows:
a. Sweepstakes winners must be enrolled at a qualifying educational institution as outlined above for each of the scholarship sweepstakes programs.
b. Enrollment at one of the qualifying educational institutions does not have to be a "new" or first-time enrollment. Qualifying Sweepstakes entrants may include individuals beginning a course of study for the first time, who are currently pursuing a course of study, who have completed one level of education at one school and are seeking additional courses of study at either the same school or a different school. (Example: an individual who has completed the requirements for an Associate's degree, but is enrolled at the same school or a different school to pursue a Bachelor's degree).
c. This award is not transferable.
d. This award will be paid in one lump sum to the winners of the Sweepstakes upon verification that the winner has applied, been accepted and enrolled at an accredited college, university or technical school consistent with the requirements of the respective scholarship sweepstakes won.

LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY: By participating, entrants: (a) agree that the Sponsor, and their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, service providers, and agencies, and their directors, officers, agents, employees, attorneys, and any other person or entity associated with such entities and/or promotion shall not be liable for any and all claims, damages, losses or injuries, including any third party claims, arising from or relating to, in whole or in part, this Contest/Promotion, including entry and participation is this Contest and acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the prizes; (b) agree that Sponsor and its' employees and agents have neither made nor are in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any prize including, but not limited to, its quality, mechanical condition or fitness for a particular purpose; (c) agree to be bound by the official rules and the decisions of the Sponsor (including but not limited to eligibility determinations) which are final and binding in all respects; and (d) consent to use of his/her name, photograph and/or likeness for advertising and promotional purposes in connection with this Promotion without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law.

All entrants further agree that in the event of any third party claims, damages, losses or injuries, arising from or relating to this Contest, they will indemnify Sponsor from any and all such claims, including the attorneys' fees related thereto. Sponsor shall not be liable for entries and winner notification responses that are delayed, lost, misdirected, illegible, mutilated, incorrect, or incomplete, and such entries will be not be eligible for this Contest. Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, incomplete, inaccurate, or misdirected entries, whether caused by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of the entries in the Promotion; computer system, phone line, computer equipment or computer malfunctions, software, program malfunctions or other failures, or other errors or delays; or network connections that are human, mechanical or technical in nature. Entrant further agrees that in any cause of action, Sponsor and its' employees and agents liability will be limited to the cost of entering and participating in the contest, but in no event shall it exceed $100 or include any liability for and form of attorneys' fees. Entrant waives the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct or indirect damages. ANY PERSON ATTEMPTING TO DEFRAUD OR IN ANY WAY TAMPER WITH THIS CONTEST WILL BE INELIGIBLE FOR PRIZES AND MAY PROSECUTED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. Sponsor reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to cancel or suspend this Contest should viruses, bugs or other causes beyond their control corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the Contest.

DISPUTES: This Promotion is governed by the laws of the United States without respect to conflict of law doctrines. As a condition of participating in this Promotion, participants agree that any and all disputes which cannot be resolved between the parties, and causes of action arising out of or in connection with this Promotion, shall be resolved individually or through binding arbitration, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively before a court located in the U.S. having jurisdiction. Further, in any such dispute, under no circumstances will participants be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waive all rights to claim punitive, incidental or consequential damages, including attorneys' fees, other than participant's actual out-of-pocket expenses (e.g. costs associated with entering), and participant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased. Any arbitration shall be held in El Segundo, CA.
